In Greek, a "Bema" was a public platform where governmental judgements would be made. In 1935, the Bema at Corinth was discovered. It was found to have a Latin inscription designating it as the "rostrum," which was the Latin equivalent of bema. This 7 foot high platform was located by the marketplace and was where Paul stood when he was brought before Gallio for judgement.
