Ananias and Sapphira
Ananias and Sapphira, a married couple, were part of the early Jerusalem church. After selling a piece of property, they claimed to have given all their proceeds to the apostles. In reality, however, they were untruthful, and had kept back a portion of the sale for themselves.
Apollos
Apollos was a Jew, “a native of Alexandria” (Acts 18:24), and presumably grew up in that noted center of the Hellenistic world where Gentile and Jewish learning met and interacted. He possessed a keen mind and had received thorough educational training. He became an influential teacher and leader who advanced the gospel of Jesus in the early Christian church.
