Paul wrote to the Romans from Corinth. In his epistle he mentions "Erastus" the city treasurer.

In 1929 an inscription was found at Corinth that said that "Erastus laid the pavement at his own expense." This inscription was dated to the same time period as Paul's letters, (~AD 50).

"Gaius my host, and of the whole church, saluteth you. Erastus the treasurer of the city saluteth you, and Quartus the brother."
Romans 16:23
