The artist illustrates this episode from the public life of Christ in which he calmed the waters of the Sea of Galilee. The story is recounted in the New Testament and is mentioned in three of the four Gospels. Brueghel depicts the boat, lashed by the waves with Christ asleep inside, at the precise moment when one of the disciples decides to wake him before they are all shipwrecked. Also in the vessel are eleven of the disciples who make every effort not to be sunk, rowing and attempting to manage the sails. 

This painting is Oil on Copper, measures 26.6 x 35 cm and is housed in the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, in Madrid, Spain.

This is an oil on canvas painting. It measures 180 × 210 cm (70.8 × 82.6 in).  It  is housed in the Tretyakov Gallery  in Moscow, Russia.  Kramskoi was a Russian Realist painter and art critic. He was an intellectual leader of the art movement known as the Wanderers between 1860 and 1880.
