This altarpiece in presenting the Holy Trinity, (Jesus after crucified, God and the Holy Spirit’s Dove) along with Mary Magdalene, St John the Baptist, Tobias, and the Angel is particularly significant in evoking a sense of deep reverence towards the divine group.

Paradise Lost is an epic poem written by the British poet John Milton. The poem was originally published in 1667, and has come to be regarded as one of the greatest works in English literature.

Due to its popularity and status as a classic work of literature, Milton;s Paradise Lost has been continuously in print since it was first written, coming out in many different editions. Gustave Dore was commissioned to provide the illustrations for a new edition of Paradise Lost, published in London and New York by the firm of Cassell, Petter and Galpin, in 1866
