The Mystical Nativity

When this painting was exhibited in 1857 in Manchester,UK,  more than a million people viewed it, and slowly Botticelli's frescoes in Italy began to receive considerable attention. 

This work is referred to as “Mystic” for combining the birth of Jesus with a vision of his Second Coming in the New Testament.

This Early Renaissance religious painting measures 75 x 109 cm and is housed in the National Gallery, London, UK.

The painting bears the signature of the artist that was discovered only after the death of British art collector, William Young Ottley.
