Birth of Jesus
Jesus was born in Bethlehem to Mary and Joseph, and angels announced His birth to shepherds (Luke 2:10-11). Jesus' birth fulfilled prophecies about the Messiah and marked the beginning of the New Testament story.
Birth of John the Baptist
An angel told the priest Zechariah that his wife Elizabeth would have a son named John, who would prepare the way for the Lord (Luke 1:13-17). John was born and would later become the prophet who prepared people for the coming of Jesus.
Return from Exile
After many years in Babylon, the Israelites were allowed to return to Jerusalem, rebuild the Temple, and restore the city under leaders such as Zerubbabel, Ezra, and Nehemiah (Ezra 1:1-3; Nehemiah 2:17). This marked the restoration of the nation after exile.
