Satan
Satan is the chief spiritual adversary of God and His purposes and is portrayed throughout Scripture as a deceiver, tempter, accuser, and enemy of God's people. The name Satan means "adversary" or "accuser," while the New Testament also calls him the devil, meaning "slanderer." Although Scripture presents Satan as a real and powerful spiritual being, he is neither equal nor opposite to God. He is a created being whose power is limited by God's sovereignty. The New Testament presents the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the decisive defeat of Satan's power and promises his final destruction when God's kingdom is fully established.
Sin
Sin, in the Bible, is the fundamental problem of humanity and the root cause of separation from God. It is described as rebellion against God, a violation of His law, and a failure to live according to His will. Scripture defines sin plainly: “sin is lawlessness” (1 John 3:4), emphasizing that it is not merely wrongdoing in a human sense, but an offense against the character and authority of God.
