Gad was a prophet and seer who served during the reign of David. He advised David during his years of flight from Saul, confronted him after the census of Israel, and directed him to build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah.

A prophet from Shiloh who lived at the time of the Solomon and the divided kingdom that followed. Said to be from Shiloh, he was buried near the oak of Shiloh.
