C.S. Lewis addresses the relationship between Christian morality and psychoanalysis, specifically mentioning Freud. He makes a clear distinction between Freud's medical theories and techniques in psychoanalysis and the broader philosophical views that Freud and some others have attached to these theories. Lewis argues that while Freud's psychological methods for curing neurotic conditions are not contradictory to Christianity, the philosophical conclusions that Freud draws from these methods are. Lewis points out that Freud's philosophical views, which often stand in direct contradiction to Christian beliefs, should be considered separately from his contributions to psychoanalysis as a medical field.

Clive Staples Lewis was a writer and lay theologian who became the most persuasive and influential Christian apologist of the 20th century.

He returned as a man to the Christian faith he had abandoned as a youth, and thereafter authored a variety of fictional novels, essays and Christian apologetics that became some of the most important defenses of the faith in modern times.

Many of the recordings presented in this collection were delivered by Lewis himself as parts of a radio series from Britain. Others are the musings of Lewis narrated by modern speakers.
