"In dulci jubilo" (Latin for "In sweet rejoicing") is a traditional Christmas carol. In its original setting, the carol is a macaronic text of German and Latin dating from the Middle Ages. Subsequent translations into English, such as J. M. Neale's arrangement "Good Christian Men, Rejoice" have increased its popularity, and Robert Pearsall's 1837 macaronic translation is a mainstay of the Christmas Nine Lessons and Carols repertoire. J. S. Bach's chorale prelude based on the tune (BWV 729) is also a traditional postlude for Christmas services.
The original song text, a macaronic alternation of Medieval German and Latin, is thought to have been written by the German mystic Heinrich Seuse circa 1328. According to folklore, Seuse heard angels sing these words and joined them in a dance of worship. In his biography (or perhaps autobiography), it was written:
Now this same angel came up to the Servant (Suso) brightly, and said that God had sent him down to him, to bring him heavenly joys amid his sufferings; adding that he must cast off all his sorrows from his mind and bear them company, and that he must also dance with them in heavenly fashion. Then they drew the Servant by the hand into the dance, and the youth began a joyous song about the infant Jesus ...

LYRICS:
Now unto Him
That is able
To keep you from falling, falling
Now unto Him
That is able
To keep you from falling, falling

In Him there is no failure
In Him there's no defeat
He who knows God knows no sorrow
He who knows God knows no defeat

He is able
He is able
He is able
To keep you from falling
Now unto Him
That is able
To keep you from falling, falling
Now unto Him
That is able
To keep you from falling, falling

In Him there is no failure
In Him there's no defeat
He who knows God knows no sorrow
He who knows God knows no defeat

He is able
I say He's able
He is able
Said, He's able
To keep you from falling

Just like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego
They were cast in the furnace
They said "our God is able to save us"
Just like Daniel, he was thrown in the lion's den
He used it's fang as pillow

Now unto Him
That is able
To keep you from falling, falling
Now unto Him
That is able
To keep you from falling, falling
Now unto Him
That is able
To keep you from falling, falling
Now unto Him
That is able
To keep you from falling, falling

I guarantee you, He will
He'll keep you
If you wanna be kept
He'll keep you from falling
Thank You, thank You, thank You
Thank You, thank You, oh-oh
For the rest of my days
My heart and my soul praise your name
Praise your name, praise your name
Praise your name, woah!

This song was originally called "God of Possible."

LYRICS:
Where were you last night when the party was on?
Where were you when we all went down to the bar?
It seems you have changed from us all
It seems you have changed

You want to know the differences between us
You want to know why these things have changed
You've got to know the one who lives in me
He lives in me, in me

Only seven days ago
I let go off my life, yes I gave it all
I let go off all I use to do
And I gave it all away

You want to know the differences between us
You want to know why these things have changed
You've got to know the one who lives in me
He lives in me, in me

He lives in me, in me He lives, in me, me
You want to know the differences between us
You want to know why these things have changed
You've got to know the one who lives in me
He lives in me, in me
In me, in me, in me

LYRICS:
Weary trying to follow your lead
But I know, every lesson I need from you
Is worth it in the end, so...

If I don't believe it
Then I cannot see it
If I can't perceive, then I'm not aware, I cannot see
When I'm getting in my own way, getting in my own way
The evil side within battles to win

Tell me that you're going to be there
When I feel like I'm out here, out here all alone
When my fire's going out
When my heart is breaking

Tell me how do I stop from giving up
On good completely
Show me how to stand past what I can see
Trusting you completely

If I don't believe it
Then I cannot see it
If I can't perceive, then I'm not aware, I cannot see
When I'm getting in my own way, getting in my own way
The evil side within battles to win

With the world spinning out of control
I need rest for my soul
It's good to know
That you are on my side
And nothing can take this life

Evil intentions try to invade the thoughts in my mind, in my mind
Your spirit overcomes every thought every time, every time

With the world spinning out of control
I need rest for my soul
It's good to know
That you are on my side
And nothing can take this

LYRICS:
Verse 1: In need of grace. In need of love. In need of mercy raining down from high above. In need of strength. In need of peace. In need of things that only You can give to me. In need of Christ, the perfect Lamb, my refuge strong, the great I AM! This is my song, my humble plea; I am Your child, I am in need. In need of Christ, I am in need. I am Your child, I am in need.

LYRICS:
I don't cross every T, I don't dot every I
I've got more flaws than a little, and I messed up a thousand times
I don't always commit, sometimes I give up way too quickly
And then I get tired of trying to run away
From who I am to who I wanna be

Some days are better than others
I can be up then I'm down
But beyond my mistakes, I'm found in Your grace
And this one thing will never change

You still love me in spite of me (woo)
You still choose me, how can it be?
Every scar, every flaw, You see it all, You see it all
You still love me, love me
Ho, in spite of me
In spite of me

(Yea) I'm stubborn at heart
I'm quick to put up a guard
I do it all be myself, I won't ask for help
And sometimes my mouth is smart
I can be insecure
Counting other people's blessings
And never stop to notice what I got

Some days are better than others
I can be up then I'm down
But beyond my mistakes, I'm found in Your grace
And this one thing will never change

You still love me (woo) in spite of me (You still choose me)
You still chose me (how can it be?) How can it be?
Every scar, (every scar, every flaw), You see it all (You see it all)
You still love me, love me (You still love me)
You still love me (in spite of me) in spite of me (hey, You still chose me)
You still chose me (how can it be?) How can it be?
Every scar, (every scar, every flaw), You see it all (You see it all)
You still love me, love me

Let me hear You say yeah (yeah)
And can I get a witness? (Yeah)
You didn't give me what I deserve (yeah)
Love so relentless (yeah)
Got me singing hallelujah (yeah)
Oh, can I get a witness? (Yeah)
You didn't give me what I deserve (yeah)
Love so relentless (yeah)
Got me singing

You still love me in spite of me (You still choose me)
You still chose me (how can it be?) How can it be? (Every scar)
Every scar, (every scar, every flaw), You see it all (You see it all)
You still love me, love me
Oh, in spite of me (yeah)

Han, ho, ho-ho
Han-han-han
Han-han-han

It's hard to believe, You have a choice
And daily You choose me, say
It's hard to believe, You have a choice (You have a choice)
Oh, and daily (and daily), You choose me (You choose me)
It's hard to believe (it's hard to believe), You have a choice (You have a choice)
Oh, and daily (and daily), You still choose me (You choose me)
Say it's hard (it's hard to believe), oh You have a choice (You have a choice)
Oh, and daily (and daily), You still choose me (You choose me)
Never gave up on me (it's hard to believe), never gave up on me (You have a choice)
Never gave up on me (and daily), never gave up on me (You choose me)
Never gave up on me (it's hard to believe), never gave up on me (You have a choice)
Never gave up on me (and daily), never gave up on me (You choose me)

You still love me (You still love me), in spite of me (in spite of me)
You still chose me, how can it be?
Every scar, (every scar, every flaw), You see it all (You see it all)
You still love me, love me, yeah
In spite of me

In spite of me
Hey

LYRICS:
You put me here for a reason
You have a mission for me
You knew my name and You called it
Long before I learned to breathe

Sometimes I feel disappointed
By the way I spend my time
How can I further Your kingdom
When I'm so wrapped up in mine

In a Blink of an eye that is when
I'll be closer to You than I've ever been
Time will fly, but until then
I'll embrace every moment I'm given
There's a reason I'm alive for a blink of an eye

And though I'm living a good life
Can my life be something great?
I have to answer the question
Before it's too late

Cause in a Blink of an eye that is when
I'll be closer to You than I've ever been
Time will fly, but until then
I'll embrace every moment I'm given
There's a reason I'm alive for a blink of an eye

If I give the very best of me
That becomes my legacy
So tell me what am I waiting for?
What am I waiting for?

In a Blink of an eye that is when
I'll be closer to You than I've ever been
Time will fly, but until then
I'll embrace every moment I'm given

In a Blink of an eye that is when
I'll be closer to You than I've ever been
Time will fly, but until then
I'll embrace every moment I'm given
There's a reason I'm alive for a blink of an eye

The song starts out by describing feelings of loneliness that many of us have experienced. This verse is a message for those of us who feel closed off from the world and like no one truly knows or understands us. However, as later shown in the song, we know that isn’t the reality. Psalms 139:1 says, “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.” God is the One who truly knows us and sees us because He is the One who made us. He sees us when we are hurting, and because Jesus is human, He knows what we are feeling because He has experienced pain too.
Surrender is an important part of this song. The repeated question of “Do you believe surrender changes everything” emphasizes that when we give our pain, fears, and doubts over to Jesus, we are changed. When we surrender our burdens to Jesus, He changes our hurts to healings and our stress to rest. Jesus invites us to come to Him in Matthew 11:28, when He says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
We were never meant to carry the weight of our pain and suffering on our own. Even when it feels like “the weight of all the world / is on your shoulders,” God wants to help us with our burdens. Just like how 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you,” we can take our fears and worries to God and tell Him what we are going through (“Say it out loud”) since we know that He loves us and wants to help us.
The title “In the Dark” refers to us no longer having to stay in darkness. There is life outside of the darkness of our pain and fear. And that life is found in the light: Jesus. In John 8:12, Jesus said,“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” By believing in and surrendering our lives to Jesus, we move from death to life, from darkness to light.

Ephesians 5:8 says, “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” Once we surrender to Him, we live a life that is now defined by the light. Surrender does change everything because we now live with God working in us, shining His light through us and changing our perspective of the world around us.
“In the Dark” is a call to surrender and to move away from the isolating darkness and into the light of freedom. It sounds strange to say that surrender brings freedom, but by surrendering our pain and our lives to Jesus, we gain freedom from sin. We no longer have to fear what will happen because we know that God is in control. We don’t have to worry about being alone because we know that God is always with us. And we don’t have to be ashamed of our sin because we know that Jesus has taken our shame from us.

That doesn’t mean we won’t still experience pain, though. Even Jesus felt pain. But when we do feel hurt, we know who we can turn to. Psalms 34:16 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” God is close, even when you’re hurting, ready to take your burdens and hold you in His arms. He knows the pain you’re feeling, and He knows that you don’t have to hold onto it.

Surrender changes everything.
