Hope
Hope in the Bible is far more than wishful thinking or optimism about the future. Biblical hope is a confident expectation that God will fulfill His promises because He is faithful and trustworthy. Throughout Scripture, God's people find hope in His presence, His salvation, and His promise of restoration. For Christians, this hope is centered ultimately in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the assurance of eternal life. Because Christ conquered death, believers can face uncertainty, suffering, and even death with confidence that God's purposes will finally be fulfilled.
Joy
Joy is a deep sense of gladness and delight rooted in God and His goodness. While happiness often depends upon favorable circumstances, biblical joy can remain even during hardship because its foundation is the unchanging character and promises of God. Throughout Scripture, joy accompanies God's presence, His acts of salvation, worship, and the hope of His coming kingdom. In the New Testament, joy becomes especially centered in Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection bring the good news of salvation and the promise of eternal life.
