Intelligent Design Investigations
Living things and the universe display remarkable order, complexity, information, and organization. Intelligent Design asks whether some of these features are best explained by natural processes alone or whether intelligence should also be considered as a possible cause.
This series approaches that question as an investigation. We will look at what is known, what has been proposed, where important uncertainties remain, and how different explanations attempt to account for the evidence.
Investigation 07
Patterns of Design
Patterns of Design in Living Systems
Living things do much more than carry out chemical reactions. They sense changes, regulate processes, correct errors, transmit information, compensate for disturbances, and coordinate many interacting activities. Many of these systems display organizational patterns that are also familiar in human engineering. The resemblance is real enough…
Investigation 08
Inference to Design
The Inference to Intelligent Design
The first seven investigations looked at the evidence. This final investigation asks what that evidence means. We have considered the fine-tuning of the universe, the conditions required for a habitable world, the origin of life, biological information, molecular machines, evolutionary mechanisms, and recurring patterns of organization…
