CHIEF
Government & Society - Both
Chief means foremost, principal, or a leader. In Scripture it may refer to the head of a family or tribe, a prince or ruler, the first in rank, or the most important person or thing.
Chief of the three
People & Groups - Old Testament
“Chief of the three” was a title associated with Adino the Eznite, one of David’s foremost warriors. He is also identified in Chronicles with Jashobeam.
Chief priest

CHIEF SEATS
Jewish Life & Customs - New Testament
The chief seats were places of honor in the synagogues, positioned before the ark and reader’s platform facing the congregation. Jesus condemned the scribes and Pharisees for loving these prominent seats.
Chiefs of Asia
Government & Society - New Testament
The chiefs of Asia, or Asiarchs, were prominent men appointed to oversee religious festivals and public games in the cities of Roman Asia. Some appear to have been friendly toward Paul.

Child in Scripture may mean an infant, a young person, a descendant, or figuratively one who is immature or humble. Children were valued as blessings, taught by their families, and included in the life of the covenant community.

Christian Life - New Testament
Child-bearing refers to the calling and experience of woman as wife and mother, including the pains and dangers of maternity. First Timothy connects it with faithful Christian living, not with earning salvation by physical birth.

The children of Eden were a people or tribe associated with Telassar in Mesopotamia, probably corresponding to the Bit Adini region near the middle Euphrates. They were among the peoples destroyed by the Assyrians.

The children of God are those regarded as belonging to God in creation, covenant, relationship, or spiritual likeness. In the New Testament, through faith in Christ and the work of the Spirit, believers receive the privileges and calling of God’s children.

The children of Israel are the descendants of Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel. The expression commonly identifies the Israelite people and connects them with their ancestor and covenant history.

The children of the East was a general designation for peoples living east of Palestine, including groups associated with Mesopotamia, Kedar, and the land of Uz. They were noted in Scripture for their wisdom and connections with Israel.
Chileab

Chileab was David’s second son by Abigail. He is also called Daniel in Chronicles and appears to have died while still young, since he is not prominent in later accounts of David’s succession.
Chilion

Chilion was one of the two sons of Elimelech and Naomi. He married Orpah in Moab and died there before Naomi and Ruth returned to Bethlehem.
Chillon

Chillon, also called Chilion, was a son of Elimelech and Naomi and the husband of Orpah. He died in Moab along with his brother Mahlon.

Chimhan is another form of the name Chimham, the son or follower of Barzillai who returned with David and received a possession near Bethlehem.
Chinnereth

Chinnereth was a fortified city of Naphtali and also the ancient name of the nearby lake and surrounding district. The name is related to the later Sea of Galilee or Lake Gennesaret.
