The Resurrection The Resurrection

On the third day after His crucifixion, Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to His followers, demonstrating victory over death (Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:6).

"He is not here; he has risen." (Matthew 28:6)
"Why do you look for the living among the dead?" (Luke 24:5)
"I am the living one; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever." (Revelation 1:18)

commentary

On the third day after Jesus was crucified, several women went to the tomb early in the morning and found that the stone had been rolled away and the tomb was empty. Angels told them that Jesus had risen from the dead.

Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and later to His disciples. At first some of them were afraid or did not believe, but Jesus showed them His hands and feet and ate with them to prove that He was alive.

Jesus spent time with His disciples after His resurrection and instructed them to tell others about Him and make disciples of all nations. The resurrection showed that Jesus had power over death and fulfilled what He had told His disciples earlier.
