Huldah was a prophetess in Jerusalem consulted during Josiah's reign after the Book of the Law was found in the Temple.
Biography
Josiah sent Hilkiah and other officials to inquire of the Lord after hearing the recovered Book of the Law. They went to Huldah, wife of Shallum. She confirmed that Judah faced judgment for persistent idolatry but declared that because Josiah humbled himself, he would not personally see the coming disaster.
Biblical Significance
Huldah's authoritative prophetic message authenticated the seriousness of the recovered Law and helped frame Josiah's reform. She is one of the clearest named female prophets in the Old Testament.
