Baanah was the name of several men, including an officer who helped assassinate Ish-bosheth, the father of one of David’s mighty men, and a postexilic leader.
Biblical Usage
David punished Baanah and Rechab for Ish-bosheth’s murder, having their bodies publicly suspended at Hebron. Other bearers of the name are associated with David’s heroes and the postexilic community.
