Abelmaim, meaning “Abel on the waters,” was another name for Abel-beth-maachah. It was a northern town associated with the waters of the region and was attacked during the reign of King Asa.
Biblical Usage
Abelmaim is mentioned in 2 Chronicles 16:4 in connection with the campaign against the northern town during the reign of Asa. The same place is called Abel in the account of Joab’s attack.
