The Maachathites were the inhabitants of the small Syrian kingdom of Maachah. They are also called the people of Maacah.
The Maachathites are mentioned among the peoples whose territory remained in Israel’s midst and among groups involved in later military events. They appear in the accounts of Israel’s eastern territories, David’s warriors, and the people living near Gilead.
Their kingdom lay near Geshur and Mount Hermon, though its exact boundaries are not certain.
