"Tel Dan Stele"

Significant as an extra-biblical corroboration of Israel past, particularly in lines 8 and 9, which mention a "king of Israel" and a "house of David". The latter is generally understood by scholars to refer to the ruling dynasty of Judah. Although the meaning of this phrase has been disputed by a small minority of scholars, today it is generally accepted as a reference to the Davidic dynasty.
