"Road to Emmaus"
The Road to Emmaus is a painting by Swiss artist Robert Zund that depicts Christ and two disciples on their way to Emmaus. It was created in 1877, during a period when Zund's religious faith began to be reflected in his work. In 1863, he settled on the outskirts of Lucerne, and rarely left for any extended period of time after that. Between 1867 and 1877, his religious faith began to appear as biblical motifs in his pictures, such as The Road to Emmaus.
