TODAY'S TRUTH
Two trees mentioned in Scripture capture our attention. Both deeply impact our lives, but only one has the power to change our future.
The first tree is found in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:16-17). God gave Adam and Eve permission to eat their fill of every single tree except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
That tree opened the door to every kind of sin to destroy our souls: lust, greed, hatred, jealousy, etc. If Eve would have seen that âfruitâ hanging among the leaves, she surely would have given it wide berth.
Thousands of years later, we find another tree at Calvary. There, the Author and Finisher of our faith endured the humiliation of the Cross. On that tree, the One Who was completely perfect died for us in our imperfection. The Eternal One laid down His life in exchange for ours. He opened the door to an endless future with Him.
Since the Garden of Eden, a power struggle exists in every human heart â a struggle between right and wrong, between flesh and faith, between our selfish desires and the truth that sets us free. The tree in Eden left us a legacy of sin and shame. The tree of Calvary bought us the gift of grace that sets us free.
