Moab

Decline and End

A Visit With Jesus

Moab became subject to the expanding Assyrian Empire during the eighth and seventh centuries BC. Its kings continued to rule locally while paying tribute to Assyria.

During the Babylonian period, Moab's independent political identity gradually disappeared. The exact circumstances of the kingdom's end are not fully documented.

Its territory continued to be inhabited and eventually became part of the wider political and cultural world of later Transjordan.
