Psalm 16:9-11 expresses joyful confidence that God will not abandon the psalmist to death but will reveal the path of life and bring him into the fullness of divine presence. David's words arise from personal trust in God, yet the New Testament sees their fullest significance in the resurrection of Christ.

John 20:9 notes that before encountering the risen Jesus, the disciples had not yet understood the Scripture that He must rise from the dead. John does not identify Psalm 16 specifically in that verse, but Acts 2 and Acts 13 explicitly use Psalm 16:10 as resurrection prophecy. The connection is therefore well grounded in the New Testament as a whole: what David expressed in hope finds its decisive realization when Jesus is raised from death and enters the fullness of resurrection life.
