First Chronicles 17:12-13 promises that David's descendant will build a house for God and that his throne will be established forever. Solomon plainly fulfills the near dimension of the promise by building the Jerusalem temple and succeeding David as king. Yet Solomon's reign was temporary, while the repeated language of permanence points beyond him toward the enduring Davidic kingship that became central to messianic expectation.

Luke 1:32-33 applies precisely this royal hope to Jesus. The angel tells Mary that her Son will receive the throne of His father David, reign over Jacob forever, and possess a kingdom that will never end. Christians therefore understand Solomon as the immediate heir and Christ as the ultimate heir of the covenant. Jesus does not merely extend the sequence of mortal Davidic kings; as the risen and everlasting King, He fulfills the promise of a throne and kingdom that endure forever.
