Daniel 9:26 states that the Anointed One will be "cut off." The expression naturally conveys death or violent removal, but the verse itself does not explicitly add that He dies as a substitute "for the sins of the world." That saving interpretation comes from the wider biblical revelation concerning the Messiah's death.

Hebrews 2:9 declares that Jesus suffered death so that by God's grace He might taste death for everyone. Isaiah 53 and numerous New Testament passages likewise interpret His death as sacrificial and redemptive. Christians therefore understand the cutting off of the Messiah in Daniel 9 within the larger scriptural teaching that Christ's death was for others. The distinction is worth preserving: Daniel predicts the Anointed One's being cut off, while the New Testament reveals the full atoning significance of that death.
