Psalm 147:3-6 praises the LORD for healing the brokenhearted, binding their wounds, sustaining the humble, and bringing the wicked down. The psalm describes God's compassionate and sovereign care for His people, especially those who are weak and afflicted.

Luke 4:18 records Jesus reading Isaiah's announcement of good news to the poor, liberty for captives, and freedom for the oppressed, then declaring that the Scripture is fulfilled in Him. Luke does not cite Psalm 147, so the relationship is theological rather than predictive. Yet Jesus' earthly ministry repeatedly displays the very divine compassion celebrated by the psalm: He heals, restores, welcomes the lowly, and announces God's kingdom. Christians therefore see in Christ the personal manifestation of the LORD's healing and restorative work praised in Psalm 147.
