Psalm 132:11 recalls God's sworn promise to David that one of the fruit of his own body would sit upon his throne. The verse restates the Davidic covenant and anchors Israel's royal hope in God's oath rather than merely in political succession.

Acts 2:30 explicitly cites this promise in Peter's Pentecost sermon. Peter says that David, being a prophet, knew God had sworn an oath to seat one of his descendants on his throne, and he connects that promise with the resurrection and exaltation of Christ. Luke 1:32 likewise announces that Jesus will receive the throne of His father David. The New Testament therefore directly identifies Jesus as the promised bodily descendant of David whose resurrection establishes an enduring Davidic kingship.
