Psalm 69:8 describes the sufferer's estrangement even from his own family: he has become a stranger to his brothers and an alien to his mother's sons. Loyalty to God has brought rejection not only from enemies but from those closest to him.

John 1:11 states broadly that Jesus came to His own and His own people did not receive Him, while John 7:5 specifically says that even His brothers did not believe in Him. John does not quote Psalm 69:8 in these verses, so the relationship is typological rather than a formal fulfillment citation. Nevertheless, Jesus' rejection by His own people and temporary unbelief within His own family closely correspond to the isolation expressed by the psalmist.
