Psalm 38:12 depicts enemies laying traps, seeking the psalmist's life, and devising deceit throughout the day. It portrays deliberate and crafty hostility against a vulnerable sufferer.

Mark 14:1 describes the chief priests and scribes seeking a way to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill Him, while Matthew 22:15 records Pharisees plotting how to entangle Him in His words. Neither passage quotes Psalm 38, but both reproduce the pattern of calculated opposition expressed there. The relationship is therefore typological: the plots against David and other righteous sufferers provide a scriptural pattern that reaches a more intense expression in the sustained efforts to trap and destroy Jesus.
