Psalm 35:11 describes malicious or violent witnesses rising against David and accusing him concerning matters he does not know. The psalm portrays the injustice of a righteous person confronted by testimony intended to harm him.

Matthew 26:59-60 records the chief priests and council seeking false testimony against Jesus so that they might put Him to death. Many false witnesses come forward, though their testimony initially fails to provide the desired charge. Matthew does not quote Psalm 35:11, so the relationship is typological, but the correspondence is clear: the unjust accusations suffered by David become a pattern of the false testimony brought against Jesus during His trial.
