Tou, also called Toi, was king of Hamath who sent gifts and congratulations to David after David defeated Hadadezer of Zobah.

Biography

Second Samuel 8 calls him Toi, while 1 Chronicles 18 uses the form Tou. Because Hadadezer had been at war with him, Tou sent his son to greet and congratulate David after Hadadezer's defeat, bringing valuable vessels that David dedicated to the Lord.

Biblical Significance

Tou illustrates the expansion of David's international influence as neighboring rulers sought peaceful relations after his victories.
