biblical character, daughter of Zelophehad (Book of Numbers)
Tirzah was one of Zelophehad's five daughters whose appeal helped establish inheritance rights for daughters when a man died without sons.

Numbers 26-27 names Tirzah with Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, and Milcah as daughters of Zelophehad. They approached Moses and Israel's leaders because their father had died without sons and asked that his name not disappear by denying them property. Numbers 36 later addressed preserving tribal inheritance when such heiresses married, and the sisters married within Manasseh's clan.
Biblical Significance
Tirzah and her sisters are important examples of women bringing a just legal question before Israel's leaders and receiving an explicit divine ruling that shaped Israelite inheritance law.
