Serah was a daughter of Asher and granddaughter of Jacob who is unusually named in both the migration-to-Egypt genealogy and the later wilderness census.
Biography
Genesis 46:17 names Serah among Asher's children who went with Jacob's family to Egypt. Numbers 26:46 again names Serah as Asher's daughter when recounting the tribal families. First Chronicles 7:30 also preserves her name. Scripture records no actions or speeches for her.
Biblical Significance
Serah is noteworthy because a woman is individually preserved across several tribal genealogies, but the many later legends about her should not be presented as biblical biography.
