Naamah
wife of Solomon
Naamah the Ammonite was a wife of Solomon and the mother of Rehoboam, who succeeded Solomon as king of Judah.
Biography
First Kings identifies Rehoboam's mother as Naamah the Ammonite and repeats her identity in the account of his reign. Scripture gives no independent narrative about her. Although Solomon's foreign wives are associated generally with his later idolatry, the text does not specifically attribute particular acts to Naamah.
Biblical Significance
Naamah is significant as the mother of Rehoboam and therefore part of the Davidic royal genealogy. Her Ammonite origin also reflects the international marriages within Solomon's household.
