Mizpar, also called Mispar in Ezra, was one of the leaders listed among the exiles who returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel.
Biography
Ezra 2:2 lists Mispar among the leading returnees with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, and others. The parallel list in Nehemiah 7:7 uses the form Mizpereth. Scripture provides no independent narrative about him.
Biblical Significance
Mizpar's significance lies in the leadership list associated with the first return from Babylonian exile. The variant forms of his name should be crosslinked rather than treated as separate people.
