Micaiah

Micaiah son of Imlah was a prophet who courageously foretold King Ahab's death despite pressure from hundreds of favorable royal prophets.
Biography
When Ahab and Jehoshaphat considered attacking Ramoth-gilead, Jehoshaphat requested a prophet of the Lord. Ahab reluctantly summoned Micaiah because Micaiah never prophesied good concerning him. Though urged to agree with the other prophets, Micaiah insisted he would speak what the Lord gave him. He ultimately described Israel scattered like sheep without a shepherd and a heavenly scene explaining the deceptive prophecy that had enticed Ahab toward battle. Ahab imprisoned him, but the king was killed at Ramoth-gilead as Micaiah had foretold.
Biblical Significance
Micaiah exemplifies prophetic courage and independence from royal pressure. His story sharply contrasts a true prophet's obligation to speak God's word with the temptation to tell rulers what they want to hear.
