Madai
Biblical character, son of Japhet
Madai was a son of Japheth in the Table of Nations and the ancestral name traditionally associated with the Medes.
Biography
Genesis 10 and 1 Chronicles 1 list Madai among Japheth's sons. Later biblical books frequently mention the Medes, especially in connection with the fall of Babylon and the Medo-Persian world. Scripture gives no independent personal narrative about Madai.
Biblical Significance
Madai links the Table of Nations with the people later known biblically as the Medes. The ancestor and later nation should be distinguished but appropriately crosslinked.
