Junia was a Christian greeted by Paul in Romans 16 together with Andronicus and was highly regarded in relation to the apostles.
Biography
Romans 16:7 names Andronicus and Junia as Paul's relatives or fellow Jews and fellow prisoners who were in Christ before him. The Greek wording translated 'well known to the apostles' or 'outstanding among the apostles' has been interpreted in different ways, but the ancient feminine name Junia is strongly attested. Scripture gives no further biography.
Biblical Significance
Junia was an early and respected Christian whose faith preceded Paul's. AVWJ should preserve the wording and translation issue without claiming more about her precise ecclesiastical office than Romans states.
