A Visit With Jesus
Job's wife is the unnamed woman who survived Job's initial calamities and urged him, in his suffering, to curse God and die.
Job's wife

Biography

After Job lost his children, possessions, and health, his wife asked whether he still held fast to his integrity and urged him to curse God and die. Job rebuked her words and insisted that people must receive adversity as well as good from God. Scripture gives her no name and records no further direct speech. Because the children who died were hers as well, her words occur within profound shared bereavement, though the text does not explain her motives.

Biblical Significance

Job's wife is an anonymous but important figure in the testing narrative. Her brief appearance intensifies Job's isolation while reminding readers that the disasters described affected an entire household.
