Jeremiah

God called Jeremiah while he was young, appointing him a prophet to the nations. For decades he warned Judah that persistent idolatry, injustice, and refusal to repent would bring Babylonian judgment. His ministry brought ridicule, beatings, imprisonment, threats, and deep personal anguish, yet he continued to speak God's word. Jeremiah counseled submission to Babylon when resistance had become rebellion against God's judgment, witnessed Jerusalem's fall, and remained among the survivors until others forced him into Egypt. Alongside severe warnings, he proclaimed enduring hope: God would gather His people, restore them, and establish a new covenant in which His law would be written on their hearts.
