Jehu son of Hanani was a prophet who rebuked both Baasha of Israel and Jehoshaphat of Judah.
Biography
First Kings 16 records the word of the Lord coming through Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha because he followed Jeroboam's sins and destroyed Jeroboam's house; Baasha's dynasty was consequently condemned. Second Chronicles 19 records Jehu confronting King Jehoshaphat for helping the wicked, while also acknowledging good found in him.
Biblical Significance
Jehu the prophet demonstrates prophetic accountability across kingdom lines and must be distinguished from King Jehu of Israel. He spoke judgment to rulers while recognizing genuine reform where present.
