Jahaziel was a Levite prophet through whom God encouraged Jehoshaphat and Judah when a large enemy coalition threatened Jerusalem.
Biography
Second Chronicles 20 says the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel son of Zechariah in the assembly. He told King Jehoshaphat and Judah not to fear because the battle belonged to God, instructed them where to encounter the enemy, and promised they would see the Lord's deliverance. Judah went out praising God and found that the enemy forces had destroyed one another.
Biblical Significance
Jahaziel's prophecy is central to one of Chronicles' clearest demonstrations that Judah's security depended on trusting the Lord rather than superior military power.
