Hephzibah
biblical figure; wife of Hezekiah and possibly the daughter of Isaiah
Hephzibah was the wife of King Hezekiah and mother of King Manasseh of Judah.
Biography
Second Kings 21:1 names Hephzibah as the mother of Manasseh and therefore the wife of Hezekiah. Scripture gives no narrative of her life and does not identify her as Isaiah's daughter; that claim belongs to later tradition.
Biblical Significance
Hephzibah belongs to Judah's royal genealogy as mother of Manasseh. Her record should avoid presenting later traditions about her parentage as biblical fact.
