This Eleazar was a son of Abinadab who was consecrated to guard the ark of the Lord after it was brought to Kiriath-jearim.
Biography
First Samuel 7 says the men of Kiriath-jearim brought the ark into the house of Abinadab on the hill and consecrated his son Eleazar to guard it. The ark remained there for many years before David later moved it toward Jerusalem. Scripture provides no additional narrative about this Eleazar.
Biblical Significance
Eleazar's role is limited but important: he was entrusted with the care of the ark during the long period it remained at Kiriath-jearim. He should be distinguished from Aaron's son and other men named Eleazar.
