Eleazar

Eleazar was the third son of Aaron, a priest who succeeded his father as high priest and helped lead Israel during the wilderness period and entry into Canaan.
Biography
Eleazar was consecrated with Aaron and his brothers for priestly service. After Nadab and Abihu died, Eleazar and Ithamar continued the priesthood. Eleazar received important responsibilities for tabernacle materials and participated in ritual and military matters. At Mount Hor, Moses transferred Aaron's priestly garments to Eleazar before Aaron died, marking Eleazar's succession. He later assisted Moses in the second census and, with Joshua, helped allocate the land among Israel's tribes. Eleazar was buried at Gibeah in the hill country of Ephraim, and the priestly line continued through his son Phinehas.
Biblical Significance
Eleazar provided continuity in Israel's priesthood from Sinai into the settlement of Canaan. His succession from Aaron established the priestly line that continued through Phinehas and later generations.
