Chileab was David's second son, born at Hebron to Abigail the widow of Nabal; Chronicles calls him Daniel.
Biography
Second Samuel 3:3 lists Chileab as David's second son, born to Abigail of Carmel. First Chronicles 3:1 gives the corresponding son the name Daniel. Scripture records no deeds, office, descendants, or role in the later struggle over David's succession, unlike several of David's other sons.
Biblical Significance
Chileab is important chiefly in the genealogy of David's household. The alternate name Daniel should be noted for crosslinking, while the lack of a narrative should not be filled with conjecture.
