Azor is named in Matthew's genealogy of Jesus in the generations after the Babylonian exile.
Biography
Matthew 1 places Azor between Eliakim and Zadok in the postexilic genealogy leading from Zerubbabel toward Joseph, husband of Mary. Azor is not otherwise given a narrative in the canonical Bible, and Scripture supplies no occupation, speech, or additional family history beyond the genealogy.
Biblical Significance
Azor's significance is his place in Matthew's presentation of Jesus' Davidic ancestry. The biblical evidence does not support a fuller personal biography.
