human biblical figure in 1 Chronicles 3:19 and 21, son of Zerubbabel, Descedant of David, father of Pelatiah, Jedaiah, Rephaiah, Arnan, Obadiah and Shechaniah
Hananiah was a descendant of Zerubbabel and therefore a member of the postexilic Davidic line recorded in 1 Chronicles.
Biography
First Chronicles 3 lists Hananiah among the descendants of Zerubbabel in the genealogy of David's royal family after the exile. The passage names his family connections but provides no narrative, office, speech, or event from his life. This Hananiah should not be confused with Daniel's companion Hananiah, who received the Babylonian name Shadrach, or with several other biblical men bearing the same name.
Biblical Significance
Hananiah's significance is genealogical: his inclusion demonstrates continuation of the Davidic family after the Babylonian exile. The biblical evidence does not support a fuller personal biography.
