Josiah

Josiah became king at eight years old. As a young man he began seeking the God of David and purging Judah of idols. During Temple repairs, Hilkiah the high priest found the Book of the Law. When Shaphan read it to Josiah, the king tore his clothes in grief and sent to inquire of the Lord. The prophetess Huldah confirmed that judgment would come on Judah but not during Josiah's lifetime because he had humbled himself. Josiah gathered the people, read the covenant, removed idolatrous objects and priests, defiled unauthorized worship sites, and celebrated an exceptional Passover. He later died after confronting Pharaoh Neco at Megiddo.
